He was born in Trabzon in 1978. He graduated from Department of Geomatics Engineering of Karadeniz Technical University (KTU) in 1999. During his PhD “Developing Geo-data Exchange Model for Turkey” completed in 2009, he worked about developing base geo-data models compatible to INSPIRE application schemas in UGent-Belgium for 1 year and in ITC-the Netherlands for 3 months, and in the Geo-database Management Center of TUDelft-the Netherlands for 9 months.

After appointed to Istanbul Technical University (ITU) as an assistant professor in 2009, under the responsibility of General Directorate of GIS of the MoEU, he completed projects about determining policies and geo-data specifications for Turkey National GIS (TUCBS) and Urban GIS infrastructure compliant with INSPIRE. He took part of building and managing Geographic Information Technology M.Sc./PhD. and worked as vice-director of GIS Research Center and Applied Science Institute.

After appointed to Gebze Technical University (ITU) as an associated professor in 2014, He completed his post-doc research as a part of INSPIRE project in the European Commission (EC) Joint Research Center (JRC)- Italy in 2015. He worked as lead training expert and data expert in European Union IPA project that focused on INSPIRE capacity building acitivities and developing training materials for practicing INSPIRE geo-data specifications in Turkey.

He works as a professor in Gebze Technical University (GTU) since 2017.  He was appointed as a Vice-Rector of GTU in 2018 and has been working as Director of GTU Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences  since 2016. He has been working as an Academic Coordinator in the Coordination Council of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM for the TUCBS 2.0 project of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

He was married and has a daughter.
